Shafer Reading Stand

Adjustable, self-supporting stand for large type publications. Tripod base with a 42 inch shaft. A 4-joint, adjustable swivel arm/book rack attaches to the shaft. Book rack measures 16 x 11 1/2 inches. Swivel arm can be locked at any height along the shaft. Book rack can be rotated or tilted in many different positions. All-metal construction, except for non-slip rubber feet. Recommended ages: 6 years and older.

Light-weight and portable reading stand for low vision readers. Waterproof, colorful, durable, and inexpensive. Easy to lift, carry, and lock into position. Folds up when not in use. Card Chart Kit

Card Chart Kit

Holds the 3 1/2 x 2 inch braille/print cards sold by APH in a variety of products, such as Expanded Dolch Word Cards. Chart board measures 19 1/2 x 12 1/4 inches. Has holes for hanging and a corner cut for orientation. Up to five cards can be inserted into each of six slots. Slots are high contrast. Includes 90 blank cards you can mark. Examples of use:

  • Alphabetizing
  • Removing all words that aren't verbs
  • Matching states and capitals

Talking Typer

Talking Typer is computer keyboarding and typing training software that speaks and displays lessons on screen. Includes drills, practice, and typing games. Adjustable to the student's level of skill and sight impairment. Recommended ages: 6+

All three options noted below contain the latest version of the Talking Typer program. The only difference is the higher or lower quality of the synthetic speech.

Talking Typer (with Enhanced Voicing) uses new computer voices that sound much closer to human speech. This version of Talking Typer provides a higher measure of intelligibility and less fatigue for audio users.

Talking Typer (without Enhanced Voicing) is lower cost and is available by electronic download only.

Talking Typer Upgrade will allow you to add Enhanced Voicing to any version of Talking Typer for Windows that you currently own. The Upgrade will also upgrade your copy of the Talking Typer program, if needed.
